Yoga Teacher Training

Are you ready to deepen your knowledge and understanding of yoga?

500 hour immersion across 2 years starting mid year 2023.

This course is being offered across one weekend a month in Ocean Grove.

Jill will be running the program over these 10 weekends per year. There will be some requirement for Zoom session attendance outside of these weekends.

The course includes:

  • Studies from the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya
  • Yoga Philosophy and History including an indepth study of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and other yoga texts.
  • Course Planning and Methodology – designing group classes, understanding function over form
  • The Energetic Models of Yoga – Nadis, Cakras, Vayus, Pancamaya Kosha
  • Introduction to Ayurveda
  • Asana (functional study of most commonly used asanas and how to teach them in practice)
  • Pranayama (breath practices)
  • Meditation (bhavana, mudra)
  • Vedic Chant
  • Mentoring (each student will be mentored over the 2 year period through personal practice and other tutoring when required.)

This training involves the commitment to regular home practice with the understanding that yoga is experiential and a journey of personal development.

Who will be attracted to the training?

  • Yoga students wishing to deepen their yoga knowledge and experience and honour the developmental process over a period of time.
  • Those looking for more foundation in teaching and practice than can be offered in a ‘quick training’.
  • Those wanting to understand yoga as being much more than a physical practice but rather a lifestyle and spiritual discipline.
  • Students attracted to one on one mentoring to progress you at your pace.

This course is more than becoming a Yoga Teacher – many who step into it are looking for an authentic yoga experience that cultivates a  resonant understanding of yoga’s traditional roots.  The richness of these teachings can not be realised quickly.

The course is conducted by Jill Harris who is a Senior Yoga Teacher and Mentor with Yoga Australia, and a Yoga Therapist. Jill has been running yoga trainings for 8 years. This program is registered with Yoga Australia.

Jill is a student of Barbara Brian (director of Agama Yoga Centre) who spent many years training with TKV Desikachar (Krishnamacharya’s son) during his lifetime. These teachings come direct from the source of traditional yoga as learnt and taught by Krishnamacharya.
