The lineage of T. Krishnamacharya is the foundation of yoga practice at Kyo Yoga & Healing.

Classes are designed with a ‘function over form’ approach that honours the many dimensions of our human form through conscious breath and movement.

Each practice facilitates a unique experience for the student based on their own capacity and needs.

The breadth of tools from the Hatha Yoga tradition are explored – asana, pranayama, mudra, chant and meditative practice.

Yoga has been part of my life since my early 20’s and with hindsight I look back on how intrinsic it has been in guiding me in all areas of my life.

My teacher training path was completed in 2004 with my mentor Barbara Brian at Agama Yoga Centre and I have been studying and teaching since then. A recent completion of a 4 year (1000 hour) study in Yoga Therapy has brought a heightened understanding of how powerful the practice in assisting wellness and healing in many conditions such as depression, anxiety, auto immune disease and more. My real passion is yoga as a philosophy of the mind and the way it can inform how we live in our modern world, particularly with our challenges around mental health. There are so many tools that can be explored and something that everyone can work with!

In 2019 I designed and taught yoga protocol on a research project - Yoga for Anxiety & Depression through Deakin University in Geelong. This has since been published with significant outcomes. And in 2021 I began working on a research trial utilising Yoga as a Pain Management Intervention for women with Endometriosis. This is still ongoing. In 2023 I will embark on working with Eating Disorder clients in a trial based at Barwon Health in Geelong.
The more published research that is completed using Yoga as a mind/body intervention for assisting healing, the more it will lead to changing attitudes to health in the public space.

I love teaching my group classes and making lasting connections with students on the mat. Aside from teaching group classes, programs and individualised Yoga Therapy at my yoga space, I am a Trainer for the 500 hours Teacher Training that is offered in this lineage and a Mentor to other yoga teachers. I am also certified Level 1 iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation Teacher.

At other times I am fulfilling another dharma to my family and our pet Kelpie who gets his daily 'yoga practice' running on the beautiful Ocean Grove beach.

I believe yoga is a way to find joy in life, live well and honour the temple we all inhabit - this body.
